Dr. Lathi is the Co-Director of the Elliot Lewis Center and a well-known speaker on treatment issues and wellness in multiple sclerosis. She participates in numerous clinical trials at the Center related to the treatment of multiple sclerosis, and she is widely recognized for her clinical expertise and comprehensive, personalized approach to patient care. She believes that the relationship between patient and physician should be an intimate one, where there is an ongoing dialogue with in depth patient education.
Dr. Ellen Lathi, a board certified neurologist since 1980, has been recognized as a teacher of residents and medical students at Tufts University. She also directs the MS Service Dog Program, sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in which Labrador retrievers are trained to assist patients with multiple sclerosis. She has repeatedly been one of Boston Magazine’s “Best Doctors” and one of US News and World Reports’ “Top Doctors.” She has received the prestigious Physician Health Care Professional Volunteer award from the Greater New England Chapter of the National MS Society. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Chairman of the Clinical Advisory Committee of the Greater New England Chapter of the National MS Society, and a member of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.
When she is not in the office or emailing her patients, she loves spending time with her two grown children and their families, as well as designing and working in her garden oasis, and playing with and training her dogs.
Joshua Katz, MD

Dr. Joshua Katz is the Co-Director of the Elliot Lewis Center and is a nationally recognized expert on multiple sclerosis and transverse myelitis. He participates in many clinical trials investigating new treatments for multiple sclerosis and sees patients in consultation from the entire New England area and beyond.
Dr. Joshua Katz is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Tufts Medical School, a board certified neurologist since 1999, and member of the American Academy of Neurology. He chairman of the clinical advisory committee of the New England Chapter of the National MS Society, and is a member of The Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. He has received multiple awards from Tufts Medical School for his skill and dedication to teaching. He is recognized for his sophisticated approach to diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases, and for his focus on comprehensive care. He feels it is crucial to treat the whole person, not just their illness. Dr. Katz encourages his patients to ask questions and be actively involved in treatment decisions. He is devoted helping patients, their significant others, and their families understand the many aspects of MS, from complex treatment decisions to the impact on one’s personal life.
When not hard at work he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, training Jackson, reading, photography, cooking (a lot), and running (not so much).
Andrew Bouley, MD

Dr. Andrew Bouley is the newest addition to The Elliot Lewis Center team. He joins us from UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he was an Assistant Professor at the medical school and was clinical staff in the multiple sclerosis center. He participates in several clinical trials involving multiple sclerosis treatments.
Dr. Andrew Bouley is a board-certified neurologist since 2017, as well as a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. His training includes medical school at Duke University, neurology residency at Rhode Island Hospital, and a neuroimmunology/multiple sclerosis fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has been invited to speak at several regional meetings discussing advancements in multiple sclerosis therapies, and has presented research at both national and international multiple sclerosis meetings. He truly values doctor-patient relationships, and strives to make shared decisions with patients regarding MS treatment that honors the patients' values and goals of care.
Outside of work, he is busy with his 1-year-old son, and sporadically does activities that he used to do with much more regularity, including running, skiing, and reading.
Kenneth Gorson, MD
Kenneth C. Gorson, M.D. is a Professor of Neurology in the Department of Neurology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine, in Boston. Dr. Gorson has published over 90 original peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and reviews pertaining to Guillain-Barre´ syndrome, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), paraprotein associated neuropathies, vasculitic neuropathy, and various other inflammatory and immune-mediated disorders of the peripheral nervous system. His clinical and research expertise extends to patients with neuropathies associated with diabetes, connective tissue disorders, and cancer, inherited peripheral neuropathies, and disorders of muscle, myasthenia gravis, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He has lectured nationally and internationally to neurological specialists and patient support groups on various topics in the field of neuromuscular diseases.
In addition to expertise in the medical management of numerous chronic neuropathic and musculoskeletal pain disorders, Dr. Gorson has extensive experience using botulinum toxin injections (Botox®) injections to treat many conditions including chronic headaches and spasticity.
Marissa Shackleton, MS, Executive Director

Marissa is the Executive Director at The Elliot Lewis Center. She manages the day-to-day operations of the practice. She directs all aspects of the infusion center, supervises the clinical research program and manages the business. She has been part of the MS Center Team since 2011.
Marissa has a Bachelor of Science in Biology, concentration in neuroscience, from Boston College and a Master of Science in Health Communication from Boston University. Marissa is particularly passionate about access to care and affordable treatment for patients. She strives to educate patients and practitioners on health insurance, overcoming barriers to treatment and financial assistance options.
Marissa is a national speaker on access, reimbursement, infusion centers, site of care, and practice management. She serves on the boards of directors for the Infusion Access Foundation and The Sumaira Foundation for NMO, and is an active member of advisory board for the National Infusion Center Association. Additionally, Marissa is the Director of Development for The ELC Foundation, a nonprofit organization developed to assist patients with multiple sclerosis and their families.
Outside of the office, Marissa is an alumna of the Marathon Strides Against MS Team; she ran the Boston Marathon in 2017, 2018 and 2019, raising over $45,000 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Courtney has been the infusion nurse at The Elliot Lewis Center since 2016. She is a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Salem State University in 2007, and then practiced as an oncology nurse in North Carolina. From there, she traveled to New Orleans where she transitioned to Emergency Medicine and discovered her passion for creole food! Courtney returned to New England in 2012 and joined the Emergency Nursing Team at Beth Israel hospital where she continued to hone her nursing skill set.
She most enjoys building patient relationships and contributing to MS treatment advancements! In her free time, Courtney enjoys eating, hiking and traveling with her dog, Zoey.

Amanda has been part of the ELC team since 2018. She is currently our part-time infusion nurse. Amanda graduated from Fitchburg State University in 2012 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. After graduating, Amanda worked as an Emergency Department nurse in New Hampshire before transitioning to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where she worked in both the Emergency Department and Cardiac ICU. Amanda enjoys working closely with and supporting patients through their treatment and learning about advancements in MS care. Outside of work Amanda is a mom to two young children and enjoys spending time outside.

Kate joined The Elliot Lewis Center in 2017 as the infusion coordinator. She is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the insurance coverage and financial assistance programs for patients with multiple sclerosis on infusion therapy.
Following her graduation from New England college in 2011 with a BS in psychology, she entered the healthcare field in her hometown of North Conway, NH where she gained administrative experience before moving to the Boston area. Kate’s favorite part of her job is learning about disease modifying therapies and building relationships with patients. She is thrilled to work with such a motivated and supportive team and looks forward to the promising future of The Elliot Lewis Center. In her spare time, Kate enjoys being outdoors, cooking, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog.

Rosie graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Boston College, where she worked on an independent research study concerning disparities in flu vaccination rates among Arab Americans. It was through her internship in an Otolaryngologist's practice, and volunteering in local hospitals that she found her passion for healthcare. She is currently focusing on community health within marginalized communities while pursuing her Master of Public Health at Boston University. Rosie joined the ELC in the fall of 2020, and is thrilled to be contributing to treatment advancements in multiple sclerosis while working directly with patients, alongside a closely collaborative, motivated team . Outside of work, Rosie enjoys anything outdoors, reading, and traveling.

Elizabeth graduated in 2013 from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, where she focused on environmental chemistry and oil spill remediation. After working for several years as a staff scientist at an environmental consulting firm, Elizabeth realized her passion for research and decided to continue her education in public health. After completing her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Elizabeth joined the ELC team and loves working directly with patients as well as learning about multiple sclerosis. In her free time, Elizabeth loves traveling, going to the beach, and reading.

Hailey is the Social Worker at The Elliot Lewis Center, joining the team in 2019. Prior to joining this position, Hailey graduated with a BA in psychology from the University of Notre Dame. She took a year off of school to participate as a Corps member for City Year Boston, then went on to get her Master in Social Work at Boston College. She has worked previously as an In Home Therapist in Boston, then as the Lead Clinician for a residential group home. Both of these jobs gave her a passion for helping individuals and families to work through difficult situations. In her free time she enjoys reading, drinking coffee, and spending time with family.

Tia is the Administrative Coordinator at The Elliot Lewis Center. Following her graduation from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2014 with a BA in Psychology, she worked as a mental health counselor and community support worker dedicated to working with families. After pursuing a future in the medical field she became excited at the prospect of being a part of a unique and devoted team and looks forward to building relationships with patients and their families while learning more about multiple sclerosis. In her free time, Tia enjoys coaching cheerleaders, cooking & baking, and spending time with her family.

Melanie is the Administrative Assistant at The Elliot Lewis Center. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. Melanie realized her passion for working in the medical field after working as a PCA for the elderly community during high school. Before joining ELC, Melanie worked for a home care company and as a rehab aide for a physical therapy facility. She loves helping patients, building relationships with families, and assisting with their everyday needs.
She’s very excited to be a part of the ELC team, learn more about multiple sclerosis, and work alongside with such a motivated and intelligent team! In her free time, Melanie loves traveling, spending time with her family, and cooking.
